Totally Tuesday
|
|
Tuesday brings us some interesting entertainment. If you've never been to Anna Bananas, its a must. Most of the time you can find a asian guy named Elbert getting plastered at the bar and getting wild. Besides Elbert and his crew, you can feel that raw energy with a mostly college aged crowd. A great place to catch some of Hawaiis up and comers. Does anybody remember seeing Jack Johnson play there? Today is definately one of those nights where you can feel the amateur rythyms. It's open DJ night, otherwise known as Open Turntable Tuesdays. So, break out your vinyl! It's all about the 1s and 2s. If you're a DJ bring your records and headphones. If you're a visitor bring your good vibes. Oh yeah, no cover!
If college hangouts are not your thing, then try check out Kelly Boy DeLima Ohana aka Mr Kapena from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Mai Tai Bar (Not Mai Tais!) And if Waikiki isn't your style, try checking out the mellow and laid back Hawaiian vibe of Robert Cazimero from 6:45-8:45 p.m. at Chai's Island Bistro. Reservations are recommended. Here is the number: 585-0011.
Upcoming events include:
The Surfrider Foundation 10th anniversary party & silent auction at Next Door (downtown O'ahu). They will be premiering the surf video Ultimate Sessions. If you're a Jack Johnson fan, they'll be silent auctioning a Jack Johnson signed ukulele.
Shin Tanaka's Wallman Projects at Pearlridge Uptown Prototype store (1st floor) on August 25th from 6-9 pm. If you're not familiar with Shin Tanaka's street oragami influenced art, then check out his works here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/individual8/tags/shintanaka / http://www.blog.lessrain.com/?p=462 / http://shin.co.nr He will be collaborating with top artists to make a custom paper toy and will be selling a limited edition t-shirt only available for sale on August 25th.
